    Hi So I put some 0.4mm (about 50cm) Nichrome wire across the two terminals of a car battery, thinking it would glow red, get hot etc. However, it mildly warmed and thats all. Am I missing something? I want to make a kind of heater with Nichrome inside silicone, but I don't understand why...

    Hi I want to make a nichrome silicone heater pad. I want to limit the maximum temperature to 70 deg c. Can anyone help me how to do that? Power: 12v DC (car battery) Nichrome wire is 20 guage 0.8mm Thanks!
