Fixing Bosch Dishwasher that can't turn on

The problem might not be in the power or control boards. Check the obvious alternatives also. Switch that senses when the dishwasher door is closed (or not). Clogged pump tubing. Anything the manual or website troubleshooting for your model mentions. There are so many sensors in these modern...

Calibration Method for Hollow Rotary Actuators

I'd be checking the accuracy tolerances of your devices. Tolerance +/- what percent? My personal opinion is that you have an unacceptable mechanical tolerance accuracy for your application, and should be looking for an alternative solution. It would help people here try to offer help if you...

    [Help] PCB Family connector unknown

Methinks it may have been a custom-built connector for your device(?) When I run into a problem like this, I find socket pins that fit the posts, and connect the wires onto the individual sockets that fit the posts. That way you can still remove the sockets if needed later. Use heat shrink...

Delta Prime, you just missed poormystic, he's on his Taoist out-of-body experience right now.

    Transistor Price Question

Thanks Bertus, for the heads-up on that link you provided. poormystic, if you find a fix for that old age issue, let me know what it is.

    Transistor Price Question

I don't get much help anywhere, asking questions about old electronic components. I suspect that most of the guys who knew the answers are gone now. Much like the usage of the parts I ask about. Sometimes it's depressing to realize how much of a dinosaur I've become, AND that the tens of...

    Transistor Price Question

Delta Prime, Hard to believe this old post is still of interest. They were all TO-92. I was as in-shock at the price as the instrument owner was. I suppose they were no longer made, so the broker believed he has gold in them there transistors. (I would expect he's still sitting on them).

    Transistor Price Question

This is a very old post that I made. Just an update for anybody that might be interested: The transistors went in a high-end test and measurement instrument. The price was so high that the owner declined the repair in lieu of a new replacement instrument. So I never bought those transistors.

    Price versus quality

I second Alec_t's observation. I've found a lot of manufacturer specs must have been made under lab test conditions, 'cause they often don't hold-up in real world situations. A good pot is needed, but an accurate input voltage regulator for that type of accuracy is a must. In my humble opinion.

    Wanted: anti-static storage foam

What poormystic??? You have to plan for at least 40 year ESD foam,.... Otherwise you're going to be in my boat after 20 years wondering why I used that lousy spongy foam. Of course by the time we hit 88, semiconductors will probably be obsolete, and we'll be antique dealers.

    Wanted: anti-static storage foam

I'm going to mention this FYI. I've had DIP and leaded semiconductors stored, some for 40 years. I don't know if the black foam has a life expectancy, but my belief is that some of the different makes have different chemical properties. I know poormystic is in my age bracket from previous shared...

Part Identification in a radiosurgical unit (RSU)

I second that prognosis. Hence my thought that maybe a certified medical equipment technician should be in on the repair/maintenance instead of a no-doubt otherwise fully qualified engineer 'taking a look at' some other design engineer's product. One of my first jobs was working electronic...

Part Identification in a radiosurgical unit (RSU)

Bluejets, I understand your point, but want to say I can't tell you how many 'prototype' high-end instruments I've worked on that were first-run products of a company trying to rush their new design to market to justify their initial investment. Many times I've found obviously hand-built...

CRT Sparking Inside of the Tube/Screen

ps:.... Also in the good old days, it was common practice (from your picture) for the tech in the factory to adjust the pots (your focus and brightness) for the correct alignment, and then put a dab of colored glue on the rotating knob to prevent somebody else down the production line from...

Part Identification in a radiosurgical unit (RSU)

I don't know where in the world this instrument is located, but will submit that a specific certification is required in the US to 'repair' medical instruments, and I suspect that the US is not alone in this requirement. This to prevent unauthorized personnel from 'taking a look at' medical...

CRT Sparking Inside of the Tube/Screen

Sounds to me like your degaussing coil has an arc-leak between the coils, not the CRT itself. Or maybe degaussing power circuit not de-energizing after it's initial activation. This comes from one of those old TV repairmen that used to make house calls in the good old days. Not something the new...

    Rebuilding tube radio

Are your tubes at least lighting-up? If the tube heaters aren't lit, you have to check to make sure the tubes are fully seated in their sockets (and that none of the tubes are cracked). Even then, a bad tube will cause you problems. My experience with caps is that any wet electrolytics will dry...

hello i need help with my panasonic home theatre

This may not help, but it's the first thing I'd try: UNPLUG the unit, wait 5 minutes, plug it back in and try again. So many of my modern electronics need to recycle their control board. Just turning it off doesn't work, you need to unplug the unit from power. Good luck.
