PWM motor noise getting into audio

Sorry for delayed conclusion here. Increasing the PWM frequency to out of hearing range worked. Thank you.

Analog Circuit to Randomly Modulate Amplitude and Frequency

I can't answer your question. And possibly only distract from your endeavors. It's been on my mind that maybe some of Ian Fritz chaos circuits might offer some assistance. I've not built anything of his yet but I know others that really like his circuits. I understand chaos isn't the same as...

Analog Circuit to Randomly Modulate Amplitude and Frequency

I'm not following this thread completely, but, I use a two Yusynth modules in my anologue modular synth system to create pseudo random modulation. The module has a random cv output, a sample rate clock in and built in noise sources. This module, it's circuitry is easy enough to breadboard and...

PWM motor noise getting into audio

Hi Audiguru thanks I'm using piezo's as a means of amplifying the sounds that are too quiet for us to hear, from the vibrations within the mechanisms etc, but also there is also audible sounds that certainly can be amplified with electret microphones. But also, maybe it's convenient for me to...

PWM motor noise getting into audio

Thanks Bluejets Use an optocoupler on the output of the pre-amp? Confused by 'No common ground connection'. So keep the ground from the Led (pre-amp) side of the optocoupler not connected to the ground that goes to the mixer?

PWM motor noise getting into audio

Hey all I have been working on motor driven mechanical sculptures that are controlled by a PWM signal, which is being controlled by control volatges from my synthesiser. The motors are Pololu 12v cylindrical brushed geared DC motors (Low power). The one in question is 260rpm. The sculptures...

Two signals to the same guitar's endpin jack

"My fear is that the preamp output also feeding the K&K piezo can burn it and the circuit closes and the impedance that sees the preamp is zero and then the preamp is also burned." I can't see how this could happen. Even in the unlikely worst case scenario and you do fry the K&K and it becomes...

Two signals to the same guitar's endpin jack

I don't understand, "The K&K is passive and cannot do damage, instead the fishman is active." if you knew this already, why do you need "greater support"? I am certainly not the most experienced/knowledgeable, person here by a long shot, or an expert, but thought i could help you, if my help...

Two signals to the same guitar's endpin jack

If all works fine and you are happy with then go for it. The series resistor you have is acting as a summing resistor, you need to put one from the output of the pre amp also, I don't have the math knowledge to help you work out which is best for each output. I can't see how you can short...

Two signals to the same guitar's endpin jack

Info on the bridge position transducer will help, part number? If the pre-amp was short circuited you'd get no sound, but let's see the bridge position transducer info, it is quite an expensive fishman pre amp you have there so good to be sure. And if I am understanding correctly when you...

Two signals to the same guitar's endpin jack

Hi there, I've just drawn up Harald's block diagram in post #6. In a similar format to your hand drawing, if that makes things more clear for you? I don't know what jack socket you have. Some shots of your wiring attempts will help in diagnosing where you have made mistakes.

    PWM shielding

Thanks Hevans, that's a generous reply! Lot's to read about and learn.

    PWM shielding

hahahahha! I didn't want to purchase one, and mentioning the ghost detectors was tongue in cheek! Well maybe my naivety is embarrassing me here, oh well, I simply thought if i could take a measurement then I could use this to mitigate and inform whether I need to shield in the future. But...

    PWM shielding

Thanks Hevans! I see on google there is various circuits on making an EMF detector and/or measuring but they are inter-dispersed among wacky 'ghost detectors' etc. Are any of these circuits and thus tools useful?

    PWM shielding

I drew up the pre amp, filter and filter mix circuit so to make things clearer here also, the sections are from different sources on the internet that I have working together. In case there is any issues here also.

    PWM shielding

Ahhh ok, I hadn't thought about this thank you. I was going to use stereo jacks and use the ground from there, attached to the chassis, is the lug 'kiss' principle a better option? At the minute my housings are wooden, I am waiting on a delivery of copper tape to apply to the inside of the...

    PWM shielding

Ok I'll shield it as i bulk bought some cable a while ago when Maplin was closing down so it's no big hit in terms of cost. Thanks Harald.

    PWM shielding

I should have started with this, apologies. Do the +12v supply to the motor and the wire exiting the motor which connects to the Collector of the TIP120 need shielding if I'm running this externally from the circuit to connect to the motor via cable? At the minute I am running this via a Jack...
