    110v AC pulse on/off device

Hi group. I have a 110v electrical item that i want the ability to turn on and off about every half second continuously. There isn't much current draw at all. It's an old Christmas bells decoration. What would you suggest for a pulse on/off unit I can plug my setup into that would cycle 110v...

Automotive related question regarding specificity of diode.

Thank you a million Kiwi. I have (2) diode styles readily available here in hand. One is a 6A 50V (276-1661), and one is a 1A 50V (1N4001). Would either of these diodes work? Otherwise I can run down the street and get that 1N4007 you mentioned. Thank you.

Automotive related question regarding specificity of diode.

Thank you so much for your advice. Now considering the second part of my posting regarding the diode. Which diode do you think would be best in that question? "" This charge light circuit has virtually no current going through it except for the current to turn on that little 194 bulb. I have...

Automotive related question regarding specificity of diode.

Hi group, Please help me with a diode question. In a nutshell, I have a feedback problem, (12v +) from my alternator which is causing my engine to not shut off when the key is switched to off. This is an occasional problem with some older systems with an updated relay-powered ignition and...

Help repairing old motorcycle voltage regulator

Hi Martin, first, thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it. I have a couple of multimeters. One is analog and one is digital but they're not really high-dollar units. They seem to work good though. I have been using a 12-volt motorcycle battery and one of those test bulb probes to do...

Help repairing old motorcycle voltage regulator

Hi Group, This issue is lengthy and detailed. If you read it all, I will be very very surprised. If you can help me, I will be excessively grateful. Grab a cup of coffee and thank you in advance. I have a 1973 Harley Davidson Z90. These small motorcycles were made by the Italian company...

Please advise a good substitute potentiometer

Hello group. If I have posted this question in the wrong class, please advise and I will make it right. There is a component that I wanted to obtain but found out it is obsolete. It is a voltage control that you would install in a vehicle to control the amount of power going to the trailer...

    DC motor brush question

Thank you so much :) Im working with a 12volt electric motorcycle starter. Battery is good at 13 volts and charging system working fine. I have a voltage drop intermittantly at hot startups to around 8 volts which is causing problems with my solenoid hold in circuit to the starter gear as this...

    DC motor brush question

I suppose this question is not technically an electronics question, I wonder If I may be permitted to ask a question about the brushes on a DC motor, a motorcycle starter motor to be exact? Thank you

Please help identify this variable resistor

Hi dorke, Still grateful for all your guys help :) Please bear with my rudimentary terminology. With my meter set to 20K, the reading from the gate to the Anode is infinite (?) in other words its like `no connection` whatsoever hence no reading or change to my meter. an open connection -...

Please help identify this variable resistor

Its fixed! Its Fixed! Its working well. Both channels 1 and 2 working seperately yet simultaneously, and responding to low and high frequencies as 73's de Edd said. I received the new potentiometer and SCR and just decided to install them, said a prayer and voilla, it works. Thank you all for...

Please help identify this variable resistor

Okay, thank you. one real quick question first. How do I determine which pin is the Gate. Would it be on the far right looking at the side of the SCR that has the part # on it? Also, setting the potentiometers at maximum sensitivity, does that mean full resistance, or no resistance. Thanks

Please help identify this variable resistor

Hi dorke, My DMM is a cheapo but seems to work well. The 2 light strings have (4) c7 light bulbs each. Each of the two channels of the unit runs its own string of four light bulbs in parallel (that is each bulb is supplied with power and if one burns out, the others remain on) if thats the...
