    Automatic DC supply selection?

OK, we had April Fool's Day, then we had May Fool's Day. Are we jumping the gun on June Fool's Day? I am confused. Not really.

    How does microchip store data?

Here is one of the puzzles of modern electronics: Memory is stored with 0s and 1s (zeroes and ones), yet they both hold the same amount of data. ??? I am confused. Not really.

From SMD tactile switch to 4 pin connector

If you cannot find that connector, try this. Use an inline connector on a short pigtail. That way you can disconnect the remote switches and still use the onboard ones. Add some strain relief between the pigtail and the board. Functional, flexible, fab!

    Block Cameras (CCTV)

The problem with most CCTV stuff is that detailed info was never available in the first place, so it can never re-surface at a later date. I share your pain. The best I could get is using RS422 with a joystick and a PTZ camera. Operation ... yes. Actual programming inside the camera ... no.

a theory to possibly get a 1000 volt super capacitor

Just stay away from mercury vapors. In our town an experimenter died from heating mercury, and the small apartment building was condemned. Keep reading the good stuff, experiment later.

    Simple power struggle...

During the 1990s I repaired hundreds of furnaces. You need an experienced professional to correct your wiring troubles. Have the furnace model number ready when you call the local furnace shops. The most critical point is this: the motor speed taps must only be connected one at a time. There...

got osc with resistor and capacitor working in true falstad sim!!!

Speaking of sims, I once repaired a "touch on/touch off" actuator for a bedside lamp. It was a bad triac. How would you test a sim for that simple circuit? Just curious.

Where to buy shielded jumper cables?

You could make your own using lengths of RG-58u thinnet coax cable. Buy some patch cables that you can cut and then prepare the ends. Strip back to expose the center solid conductor. Work the shielding to one side and solder on a bit of solid wire to fit into the breadboard. Cut the jumpers...

    Beginner Question!

My very first project: install an audio jack into the side panel of a one-tube portable record player. I wired the jack to the stylus pickup circuit. Then I plugged in a $2 crystal mic and had a PA system/imitation karaoke. When you unplugged the mic it was a regular record player. Fun!

    Beginner Question!

Good Luck! The best way to learn is building small projects like yours, some great, some poor, but they gradually get better over the years. I started by taking apart old car dashboards and by dismantling old telephone company microwave and switching panels. I collected old tubes from radios and...

    Beginner Question!

I have one of those "sound and motion" greeting cards that plays a short song while a tiny motor spins and makes a bed of flowers rock back and forth. It sings "thank you for being a friend" so cute. I converted it into a desktop tableau that operates at the push of a button. I put the circuit...

Creating own Electromagnets & Calculating Forces between them

Please don't try to dissect individual formulae. Past scientists and engineers have spent lifetimes developing and testing them. From your experiments, a good starting point would be to use your results to confirm those relationships in each formula. Here is a good first-year lab experiment...

Surface Pro - External DC charging questions

Does the notebook charge when using the proper charger? If not then you have blown the mosfets on the motherboard. Been there, done that. I accidentally connected a different charger backwards for 1 second ... boom, $200 repair. In your picture the cable going to the notebook seems to have a...
