Alpine car stereo

I have an Alpine car stereo with cassette (1988). Model 7180.

I cant seem to find a wiring diagram online. There are 12 wires not
including the RCA jack cables and the antenna connector. One is
labeled "power antenna", the others have no labels.

I can not understand what they are all for. 3 would be speakers (or 4
if each has separate ground).

One is power, another is probably dial light power.
Normally the case is the ground....

That's a total of 5 or 6 needed wires.....

What are the others for?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this unit?

I went to www.alpine-usa.com
They dont list this model, probably too old...

Thanks

Lately all after-market stereos and wiring harnesses seem to have a
common color code, but for 1988 that might not be the case.

If you have 12 wires they are probably as follows:

Power Stuff (4 wires)
---------------------
+12V switched (red)
+12V always (yellow)
Remote Power-On (blue) for antenna or external amplifier
Ground (black)

Speakers (8 wires)
------------------
Violet & Violet Black RR
Green & Green/Black LR
White & White/Black LF
Grey & Gray/Black RF

There could be additional line-out connectors with RCA jacks (up to
six). Newer units have connectors for steering wheel interfaces,
Bluetooth kits, satellite radio kits, etc.

I was looking at a picture. Yellow is probably always on. Might have
bridged outputs. You could figure it it out on a bench, or buy the $17
manual.
