Analog meter repair

Do anyone know where can I get rewire my 1960 tube tester's voltmeter, is it
very expensive?

Eric....
It might be cheaper and easier to find a old, used (same model) tube tester
on ebay or a garage sale... it doesn't have to be in working condition or
in good cosmetic appearance .... just the meter has to be good.

I would absolutely agree with this. Rewinding a meter is virtually
impossible.

Ditto all of the above...EXCEPT if it's a TV-7. There was a discussion on
rec.antiques.radio+phono last week about someone who performed this very
service.

Is the coil actually burned up? Rewinding it would be hopeless, but it may
be that the wire has simply broken off and can be repaired. I've fixed a few
speakers this way where the voicecoil wire broke right where it connects to
the flexible lead in wires, it wasn't easy but it's lasted so far.

Apparently it can be done, but this is a job for the very, very few...
For the ones of you who read German, take a look here in
Dieter Wächter's article, how he wound a new moving coil
for a TV-7A/U with #50 wire (0.025 millimetres thick!)

looking over all of the detailed photos and the photo-diary progress of the
TV-7 restoration.
My feelings are that this guy has way too much time on his hands..... he did
a very nice and thorough job.... and as you pointed out, this is not a job
that most of us would do, especially the meter coil rewinding...
