It could be a problem with the power supply.
When playing louder and on lower notes you use more power from the supply. Could be as simple as electrolytic capacitors drying out.
Start by measuring voltages from the power supply and check if they are valid and free of ripple.
If there is big a transformer that ar soldered directly to the PCB, it could have bad connections. If so, try to resolder the connections. In general follow the power from the grid input to/through the power for breaks, including the ones Edd wrote about.
If the power is good, we need to look other places.
