Hello I joined this forum because i cant find anything that will tell me what I am looking for.

I have been working on this monitor for a couple days now, I have replaced all the bad capacitors, but now I am stumped I can not find anything on the piece that I think I need to replace. The piece is rectangular and is from what I can tell the has something to do with powering the back light. It makes A high pitched noise then clicks and it is off.

There are pictures and they show my power supply and then the rectangle piece

hi,
welcome to the forums :)

yes its a transformer, you can see 2 of them there ... one for each fluro tube
The output from these transformers is ~ 1000 - 1500 V. They WILL BITE hard
I have never had one of them fail, usually its the driver components that fail .... they will be on the other side of the board .... also check that fuse there , it may have blown ... that little black component ( labelled F204) to the left of the capacitor in the second pic

I probably should say whats happing. It turns on right away then it does a high pitch squeal and click off like all of a sudden the fuse blew lol. i will check the fuze. My uncle tonight are going to test the transformers. Where would i by the transformer? And what do the drivers look like?

you are unlikely to buy the transformers

photo the other side of the board and I should be able to point out the drivers

OK I have circled the 2 x driver devices and also the oscillator IC

The drivers are often dual transistors or FETs in a single package

I wonder if you can read the device type numbers on any of those 3 devices ?
