Compare two voltages and output difference

Hi,

I know my way round basic circuits, but im not too hot on all the lesser-used components. I was wondering, is there any component that will take 2 input voltages, compare them and then output the difference?

And if there isn't a dedicated component, could someone please point me to a circuit that would do this?
