Bit of a long shot here. I recently posted about a keyboard i bought where the ccfl had gone and how to replace it. I have since done this only to find that a resistor has blown on one of the inverter boards. Worse still, the boards are no longer available and the resistor is burnt so i cannot identify it.
So, there are two inverter boards. On the dimmer board there is what looks like a 12v connector and a smaller two pin connector. There is a third connector not used. This board then links to another inverter board by another small 2 pin connector. On this board is the standard 3 pin connector for the ccfl tube.
This is a £1000 workstatio rendered next to useless as all editing etc. Is on the large screen. I am happy to try anything to get it running. Is there an off the shelf inverter i could use or some way of conecting a thin LED strip to the 12v connector without needing an inverter?
Obviously dont want to damage anything else but it is almost unusable for me as it is.
Any ideas at all?

Maplins do a 5cm Led strip that runs on 12v. Could this be wired up to a female connector and connected directly to the 12v cable without further circuitry?
I did say i was deperate.....

Answered my own question guys. LCD strip worked perfectly and, while it is a tight squeeze into the existing components, I managed it without any damage to the board.
More importantly...it works!

Excellent!

How about you post the make and model of the keyboard, and the part number and maybe technical specs for the LED assembly you purchased from Maplins.

If anyone else has the same problem Google will bring them right to your post.
