Does anyone know of an Edison Base AC->DC converter

I'm researching to find a small solid state device that converts 110V 60Hz
AC to 5V DC. Ideally, this device would screw into a standard light bulb
Edison Base.

The application would be for pretty low current draw (prolly not exceeding
3A).

I was told at one point there existed such a device, but haven't had any
luck tracking one down.

Does such a thing exist?

Why look for such a specialized device??

Get a standard lamp to socket adapter. ( ~$0.30)..
Then plug in your favorite switching wall wart AC to DC adapter.

The AC adapter which came with my D-link wireless access point
weighs in around 3 oz and output 5vdc@2a.

1. Portability
2. Heat (i.e. transformers radiate heat)

So does anything else that has to dissipate that much power.A
resistor, regulator, transformer, etc. Even a highly efficient SMPS will
produce some amount of heat.
