does high screen resolution make the flyback vulnerable

hello i started using a higer resOlution on my monitor (KTC 17")
about 1024x1024 something around that and not too long after that my
HOT went bad, right now a replacement doesn't seem to work, keeps
going bad now i think the flyback is bad. this is a new monitor so i
want to know if that high resolution can affect the flyback in som
poorly designed monitors. THANKS

Obviously the higher the res the harder the HOT (and everything else ) has
to work, but modern monitors usually have protection circuits and software
to prevent damage. Your KTC should be OK up to 1280X1024. What frame refresh
rate have you set the output to? I think a lot of the problems like this are
caused by the makers being forced to build the things for less than the cost
of the packaging to stay competitive so they cut corners on the components.
If this is a new monitor check your warranty. Ooops if you replaced the HOT
yourself, the warranty is out of the window, but I wont tell them if you
don't :^)

When the HOT goes it sometimes takes out the Voltage Reg. If your B+
voltage is to high it will take out your HOT again. Also could be a
bad cap in the high voltage section after the flyback that will take
it out to. Ted

The HOT's usually have a built in Damper diode for preventing Feedback at
the higher Refresh rates from cross-conducting back through the HOT. If you
replaced theHOT with one that dont have a damper, and it was intended to,
you shorten the life of the HOT much faster if you run in the Higher Modes.

You could also have a HOT that dont use the Internal damper, but has an
external Damper in a T0-220 Package , and that could be faulty.
