Force sensors

Where can I buy low cost force sensors (preferably in Oz)?

I'm trying to prototype a product that needs a force sensor with a FSD of
about 10kgf.
RS etc sell discrete strain gauges etc, but I am looking for a integrated
sensor. Some thing similar to used in cheap electronic scales would be
ideal. The price of load cells is way (weigh?) too high. Googling has not
turned up any useful sources.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

TIA

Whats the application and how many are you chasing? I have access to some
cheapish korean load cells. They may still be out of your price range
though? I'll get you some prices if you are interested.

Thanks for the reply Andy. The applications is for use in some training
aids. Cost is a real issue - I'm hoping to track down something in the range
$10 > $20 per unit. Accuracy isn't critical - better than 5% would be
adequate. What sor of price are the load cells?
I'm also looking at trying to locate someone who can supply some force
resistors - I don't know much about them but I understand they are
inexpensive.

Does it have to electronic.
A simple solution is to connect the clutch master cylinder from an old car
and connect it to a pressure gauge. This system works well and has been used
in many applications over the years. If you use a cylinder the has a 1 square
inch piston and the gauge in PSI, then you won't need any calibration .You
can then convert the PSI units to what ever you want by writing on the gauge
with a fine pen.

Why ? Its something others are interested in too.

Because it's now a purchasing issue between the respondent and myself rather
than being of a technical nature. I'm sure Andrew would be willing to
provide you with model/pricing details if you are interested.

YEP! My pleasure! CAS BCA-10L Single point load cell, approx 140AU dollars +
GST. Can also sell plain ol' strain guages of the CAS variety if required.

Some may just be interested in the general price/viability question
without actually wanting to buy some themselves currently.

There will always be some situations where cheap
force sensors are the obvious way to do some stuff.

Hi Andy,

Can you supply details of the transducer .. I may have an application
for one at work?

Thanks,

Tony
