Hi everyone! I have just started out in hobby electronics and found this place while hunting about....BRILLIANT!!!
I bought myself a soldering station,a bench PSU,a couple of multi meters and some tools and plan to learn how to use them as a hobby in electronics.
I got an old printer, old tablet and DVD player and stripped the life out of them. I got a few DC motors and lots of bits an pieces. I've bought a couple of grab bags of components from eBay so plan on trying to make a wee project of some kind to get me started.
I have MS and had to stop working 2 years ago due to progression of the disease so have plenty time to learn.
I'm really looking forward to learning. Or trying to learn!! Ha ha

Welcome to EP.
You may want to browse our ressources section to learn some basics.
Then go directly to one of the forums that deals with the things you're interested in and join the lot.

Have fun!

Thank you for the welcome Harald!
So far I've bought a couple of the wee DIY kits from eBay,crap I know. I had great fun working all the bits and pieces out. I've found that I love the soldering part! I love following the drawings, making sure everything's correct with my multi meter then working out how best to build it up so I make things easy for myself.
I know its very simple but everybody has to start somewhere. When you don't know its a challenge working out what all the bits do and why.

Thanks again for the welcome.....Terry

Fáilte/Welcome Terry01,
Great place to learn from a great group of people who are happy to share their knowledge.
It sounds like your off to a good start with your new parts and equipment.
Every project is a stepping stone towards learning. If you enjoy tinkering and asking questions, you'll be pro before you know it.

Regards, ...John

Hi Terry
Welcome to EP, I hope you enjoy it here and I among others look forward to helping you. Perhaps when you have time you would like to set up another thread on what you have been doing so far. I am sure we would all like to have a look.
Thanks
Adam

Someone 'local' to me! You've chosen a very good hobby to entertain yourself. There are so many aspects to it that it's almost impossible to get bored!

Enjoy yourself and don't be afraid to ask....

mìle fàilte, Terry. I had the good fortune to spend half a year on the opposite coast (Prestwick / Ayr) during my military service and fell in love with Scotland. How could anyone not? Anyway, best wishes on your ventures.
