JVC GR-AX710U VHS-C Camcorder Problem

I have a JVC GR-AX710U VHS-C Camcorder that powers up in "play" mode and
plays tapes perfectly. When I put the camera in "Camera" mode the unit
powers off. Sometimes it will stay in "camera" mode for 10 to 15 seconds
before powering off, other times it powers off immediately. Any ideas on how
this unit can be repaired?
