Recently I got a "Motor-Comm Error" on my LifeFitness T3 treadmill. Here's my fix:
-Pic 1 the error code
I pulled off the cover and saw Pic 2. the wire was apparently rubbing against the spinning part of the motor, which caused Pic 3.
Simple fix:

1)Replace the cord, it was about 18$ used on Hydra Fitness Exchange. But you'll have to find the cord for sale
OR
2) buy some 10P10C heads (Pic 4) and crimper tool (not a normal Cat 5 as those only have 8 pins, so you'd need a special crimper that goes up to 10 pin). The heads were about 15 USD and the tool about 25 USD. [mod edit: use of the dollar sign misleads the forum sw to create inline math text, therefore I replaced teh dollar sign by USD]

Some are easier than others, simply because someone has taken the time to do a 'Reverse-engineering' of the motor board, where most of the faults occur.
They practically all use a DC motor and Mosfet or other phase angle control.
