I am creating a monitor system for musicians where each musician hears the main mix and can enhance the volume of his own instrument without disturbing the main mix. There is a central hub that connects to the main mixer/recorder (Zoom R16 in my case) and to the five separate monitor mixers. The trick is that the instrument sound goes through the monitor mixer to the main mixer/recorder and the main mix comes back and goes to the headphones. In the local monitor mixer, some of the instrument audio is added to the headphone signal. I have chosen to use two NE5532 dual-opamp chips for each local monitor mixer and 5-pole DIN connectors between hub and local mixers (of the type often used for MIDI).
I have KiCad schematics and block diagrams which I will gladly share with interested people wanting to discuss my idea/design.

Regards, Michiel

That sounds like a solid and practical design, very similar to pro personal monitor systems. The NE5532 choice makes sense for low-noise audio, and the signal routing idea is clear and well thought out. Happy to look at the schematics and discuss it further.
