I'm considering to make a e-waste recycler to enter a competition (using open sourced designs for the structure is okay as long as my ideas are unique)
time limit: 2 months
my idea: 1715991336729.png
basically, the machine will go through a process of: taking a photo of the entire pcb - identify the most valuable(or expensive) components and generates a order for all the components that are on the pcb (and the desoldering temperature) - the toolhead moves to that part - blows 150~200 °C air from a ptfe tube - (solder melts) - picks up that component - drops it into boxes (sorted by size, e.g. 0201, 0402, 0603... lqfp-48, lqfn-100... qfn-48, qfn-40 etc.)
is it possible? what are the possible problems that will might up?
here are some things that I'm worried about
1. how can I secure the pcb to the plate?
2. is it possible to recycle the solder automatically?
3. since the tweezer-like mechanism is sticking out, how can I keep it from banging on large components while it's moving? ( I don't really want it to move in 3d)
Thanks in advance!
