Philips compact stereo model FWR7R3 701 CD drawer doesn't open

Does anyone have any experience with this model? Its got a CD writer
in it so its probably worth saving if possible. I have no service

Look in the power supply for a large electrolytic capacitor, Sorry, I don't
remember the value but it's physically about the biggest one in there, next
to the output section. Those caps fail and put enough AC ripple on the power
supply to make the micro malfunction, sometimes the CD won't open, sometimes
the display will be messed up, etc. I think it was 6800uF at 35WV, replace
it with a 105 deg. that will handle the large ripple and you'll be good to
go. Did a lot of those for a rent-to own company, about 50 of them. 2 had
bad outputs, the rest it was those caps.
