first you must get a C compiler for PICs. Then you search documentation for your compiler.
Most compilers have official or unofficial user forums where you can find code examples, tested libraries etc

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I have already got a donwloaded compiler but as a beginner, it´s difficult when you don´t have a good basic book in the form of a tutorial to guide you. I am just wondering if anyone knows of a book to recommend.

What type of compiler you have? You must have a samples in your compiler. If you need some info about C look for ANSI C books. Also you must read very carefully the processor data sheet.
When you have a real task, please write what is the difficult for you, and i believe that will have a many people that will help you.

You should post this in the microcontroller area. Many users do not read the "General" posts. You are not getting much exposure by posting a micro question in the wrong forum.
