Plasma Ball/Tesla coil

Quick question. I have an old plasma ball that used to be my sister's
that I found in a box of stuff. It still works. My question is this:
If I removed the glass globe, would I be left with a working open air
tesla coil?

It is possible, but I am not shure, there is a possibility that it
will be a flyback converter like T.V. THT

Those are neat things, you can use them to drive small Tesla Coils.

Also useful for driving Cockroft-Walton multipliers to generate
insanely high (megavolts) voltages, charging capacitors, etc.
