Read and copy PIC12F program memory

Is there any way to read preprogrammed pic12f675 MCU and save the particluar file in hex format. I have search lot on google MPLABX has the option of reading device memory "http://microchipdeveloper.com/mplabx:read-a-device-and-save-the-hex-file#top-of-page". I am not sure how it works, I don't have any experience on PIC MCU before. Anyone PIC expert helps me on this topic to solve the problem.

The MPLAB free program will read it, you need a PICKIT2 or PICKIT3 or knock off to read it.

Do you know if code protection has been applied? This is common for commercially produced devices and 'variable' for amateur use. If so, forget it.
