Never put a 9V battery (or any battery / cell with adjacent terminals) in your pocket where it can come in contact with change, keys or any other conductive object. It took me a few minutes to figure out why my leg was burning.....

On a similar note let me relate an experience. When I was first dating my wife she gave me a crucifix and rosary. Eh whatever. So I put it on my rear view mirror. I owned an Alfa Romeo convertible at the time.. Some time later there appeared smoke and a red hot rosary. Not a good omen. Turns out that the map light terminals at the top of the rear view mirror were sticking out just enough to make a connection when the chain was strung across..
