separate generator and grid tied solar on same house

I'm thinking about installing a 2KW grid tied PV system on my house. I
also have a generator that I power the house with when the power goes out.
Let's assume the power goes out and I disconnect from the grid and start the
generator. If the generator is good enough won't it trick the grid tied PV
system into turning on? Assuming it does what happens when the PV system
starts making more power than I'm using? Does it need a place to go? What
happens if there is no place for it to go?

Just because a generator says it's say 3 kW, doesn't mean it always makes 3kW
worth of electricity. It makes what you actually use. There is no 'unused
electricity' that needs to go anywhere.

You can literally watch the governor do just than......on internal
combustion or in my case external
combustion.
The steam cutoff will to move with the load...at the same time you drop down
that arc welder or other heavy load on
the propane,gas or diesel generator and they like the steam engine go pedal
to the metal until the rpm's line back out.
In all cases they are running constant volicity with a droop control and
"idle" at the same speed as full load roughly.
But then invertor don't go full load constantly either.
And dependng on the wire connect being between the grid and the solar
invertor will in point of fact trick the invertor .If reference signal is
behind the generator and the interlock for the generator the invertor
"thinks" the power went off for 20sec.that it took for the generator to
start.It will then follow
the generator freg. at this point and inductive reactance will cause the
generator deliver what ever load is left.
If there was anything else to add, it would be an overspeed control that is
missing from most cheap generators.
I use generators that can be sycn. out so maybe missing something on the el
cheapo rigs.
Using mostly woodward controls on gas,steam,diesel,and gas turbine
units......bio mass can be in the right
conditions used in all the above engines.And generator just thinks the solar
is another generator coming on line
and monitors Pf (primarily)to match.
