So what's the difference between 12v at 1a and 1v at 12a?

Which would you rather feel on your back side for a minute of torture if given the choice, and why? Still trying to understand this "electricity" stuff

Hello,

Have a look at the wheel of Ohm:
Ohm's_Law_Pie_chart.png
12 Volts at 1 Amp = 12 Watt. R = 12 Volts / 1 Amp = 12 Ohms.
1 Volt at 12 Amp = 12 Watt. R = 1 Volts / 12 Amp = 0.083333 Ohms.

I don't get all the math. How could one harm or serve you differently than the other?

Hello,

Do you mean the chance of an electrical injury?
Read this wiki page:

No.. How about this:

Your body uses electricity... I think right? Isn't all energy?

So give me an example for where little volts but many amps are used in your body and another where many volts but little amps used

Oh I might get it....

Taking a regular dump would involve many volts but little amps. Therefore medium-much resistance.

Whereas a dump after a large fruit salad would result in such action with much less resistance therefore force too but much amperage

Hello,

The current through a body is dependend on the body resistance.
Did you read this peace on the wiki page?

An example of big Volts and little Amps (mA).
An electric fence. It still certainly makes you jump but won’t kill you. Unless you have medical issues.

Good example. Okay, so then if they wanted to make it to kill godzilla they'd swap the volts and current a bit? So in electronics is there talk about this ratio and their range of applications?

Yes, plenty more Volts and plenty more Amps. Thousands, and Godzilla would be crispy and smoking for a while:)

The range of applications is huge. It depends on the design and demand the device requires.
Underground trains for example, 700V and thousands of Amps.
A bedside radio/alarm, 9V and 300mA for example.
Forget about Watts, that’s the consumption of power. Your electricity board invoices you for Watts/kWh.
So to be clear, the power consumption may be the same with many devices but the voltage and current will be different.

I just looked up electric fence specs. HUGE difference. So then what would be the opposite? Laser gun? You know cars much? Radio signals? What's higher up? A generator? What's lower on the volts with more amps? A light bulb would be more like the electric fence no? 100w bulb with 120v... mA!

But what's the ratio to kill godzilla? 50/50? Or 30/70 v/a?

I have no idea as Godzilla doesn’t exist.
What’s higher up?. Lightning!
Actually I just looked it up, and lightening would have the effect of an electric fence on godzilla. Only 30ka but 300mil volts... So I would suggest a HUGE automobile alternator as they run with a much lower v/a ratio providing the required wattage to kill godzilla with about 3.6mil volts and 30 MILLION amps. Just a rough guess

Well, if only Godzilla existed to get a real answer!.
And HUGE automobile alternators don’t exist either with 30 million Amps.
