HOME THEATER AUDIO CUTS OFF

Hi there , i have a LG home theater and the audio cuts off in 2 or 3 seconds. and every time i switch audio modes the sound comes and goes off. can someone help me to fix this issue.

Hi Renwick,
Have you checked the obvious first?
Like speaker connections tight and in some cases polarity.
Especially no loose wire strands shorting either terminals?
Check and double check these.
A loose strand can almost be hair strand size (wire dependant).
Take your time and undo each terminal, twist strands properly and terminate again.

do you have any electronics experience ?
do you have any test gear ... multimeter, oscilloscope ?

Hi Dave, not really sure either. But assume CD, TAPE, AUX, PHONO for us old guys!!!!!
So swittching between inputs has not shorted.
Sound for a second before interrupts. O/P sounds fine. Just some interrupt protection before all outputs. May be?

Just giving an idea for audio modes as OP.
I/we call them inputs or outputs.
I was just trying to help the OP to better explain him/herself.
I am certainly not questioning /asking you!!!!

i have uploaded some pics of the model number and the remote too. on the remote you can see a button as XTS pro, when i press that the audio comes and again in few seconds it goes off and when i use that same button to change modes it keeps coming on and off.

Hi Renwick,
A couple more questions..
Do you have the user manual? Because it appears that the XTS button changes to channel 2 or something like that.
Do you have all the speakers connected? Front, rear and centre.
Are the speakers the correct impedence for the amp. 4-8 ohms?

If you power the unit on, will it stay on and play normally until you press XTS button?
Can you provide exactly what is happening, does the leds stay on?
When audio goes off is there any clicking heard from the amp etc etc.

i don't have the manual, i got all the speakers connected, and all the speakers are at the right amp. the power stays on while the audio only cuts off. the moment i switch the system on the audio starts and cuts off in 2 seconds but the system stays on. but there is some humming noise from the speakers.the leds stays on too.there is no clicking noise.

Have you got tools to check voltages? multimeter? etc.
I'll try and upload the service manual here.
Maybe someone can help with that.
I initially thought the protect mode was kicking in but the relays should have cut power to the speakers. Until you said there is still a hum.
Might also be a power supply problem. So we will have to do some checking from the service manual if you can follow on?

Some amplifiers (I don't know about yours) have an anti-thump muting circuit to protect the speakers at power-on. This often involves a high value capacitor charging up over a second or two during power-up. Clutching at straws here, but if this cap has gone leaky perhaps it subsequently discharges and mutes the amp again.

can you send me the link for the service manual and ill try to do as advised. i have a multimeter but im not too familiar with it.
