Public schools are turning into sub-par paranoid mass babysitter boxes.

Which is tragic. And yes, I agree, understandable given the environment in the US which requires schools to be overly wary. But tragic nonetheless.

In any case, I know it's tragic but there has been an overwhelming amount of support for him.
Twitter has reached out and offered an internship, NASA has posted support on his Twitter feed, and apparently Obama extended an offer to visit the whitehouse.

This kid got a lot of exposure and will continue to get a lot of support from individuals and companies for a while. I count my blessings he wasn't shot. It's harsh to say, but it could have been a reality when you consider the paranoia that started this whole mess.

Yeah. I saw, and it's ridiculous.
The problem really is everyone's though...
Schools are under constant threat, so I can understand the teacher thinking it was a bomb...
This kid needs to have access to a local hackerspace where he can actually share things and learn. Public schools are turning into sub-par paranoid mass babysitter boxes.

I for one cannot understand why the teacher could not discern if there was a explosive package connected to the clock. Even though she was an English teacher, she and all the others should have had a modicum of science knowledge and basic sense to know that bombs = explosives. No wonder the kid does not want to return to that particular school. The instructors are too dumb to teach him anything.

You would be surprised at how little people actually know...
It's hard to tell though if it really is stupidity, or if they pull this kind of garbage intentionally.
