Can build variable power supply relatively easy for low voltage & current. Check radios shack projects for more details.
Thanks didn't know thatPlease don't use this as a power supply... it looks like it's simply a beefier version of a light dimmer... which means it operates on a sort of 'PWM'.
It chops up the AC waveform as it goes out... the more that is chopped off, the dimmer/slower the light/motor goes. It does not actually regulate voltage in any way.

I like how it 'looks' and I like the functions, but I am always weary when the price seems to good.Ok i won't use it as a power supply.
Is this a good Multimeter for the buck or do you recomend something diferent?

Ok and what kind of a multimeter do you have if you owe one?I like how it 'looks' and I like the functions, but I am always weary when the price seems to good.
I don't have experience with that name-brand.
I've got a basic little Fluke meter. (Can't remember the model)Ok and what kind of a multimeter do you have if you owe one?
So its orobably similar to my brothers/mine UNI-T ut33dI've got a basic little Fluke meter. (Can't remember the model)
It does not have the extra functions. I can do Resistance, Voltage, and Current.

Thanks for the infoYears ago, I saw a "Power Pump" in a CB magazine and the plans to make one. It was a 'plug-in' that converted 110 VAC to 12-13 VDC with a rock solid output. There was an option to see just how many amps was being used when the CB was being used. The specific voltage could be controlled by a specific resistor. The whole thing fit inside a 3" x 3" x 4" box. I built one and used a mobile CB, in the house as my base station. It could also have been used as a 12V battery charger. Slight research, may find the answer to your project.
Thanks for the opinion apriciate it.looks respectable, for $30 if you get several years out of it ( you may get much longer) before you have to replace it ... it's a great deal, has a good range of test modes
those things are shocking compared to FLUKE which are the industry standard. My FLUKE is over 30 yrs old and still chugging along
