It just really helps to get good info for people to help you

Good, you found it was a buzzer .... try a low voltage , say around 5V ... red is positive, black is negative
see if it buzzes well or only just starts to buzz ... if only just starts increase voltage to around 9V and see how it sounds

Thank for response. Has been missing a buzzer for a long time, particularly because I am a teacher and in my classroom have some pupils with eye-handicap.
