555 Circuit

Does anyone know of a simple 555timer ic circuit that will make a 12 volt led strip blink. Someone suggested I go this route, and now that my ic chip has arrived, I am looking for a circuit that will do the job. Any advice would be appreciated.

As an added note, does your LED strip require a driver or is it built in..??

Thank-you. Great resource. I think it has one built in cause it works if I connect 12 volts directly to it

The 555 can drive 200 mA max.
If your LED strip requires more current, use a driver as shown in our resource "Got a question about driving LEDs?"
