Thanks to Gonzoid, I managed to easily use some much larger Pioneers for all 5 speakers.
I carefully cut into the main cable, through two casings and found the grey and white wires. I then soldered a length of speaker wire to the cut wires facing the plug, used some heat shrink tubing to seal it all up and connected it to my new speaker. The head unit sits next to the other speaker and controls the stereo as usual.
The amp inside the sub powers the new larger speaker boxes (5 with a total of 8 medium, 4 small speakers & 5 tweeters) and there's power to spare.
I now have a re-vamped old Logitech Z506 5.1 system that works perfectly.

Hello everyone!

1 - audio signal to headphones connector (R)
2 - Vcc after power switch ON
3 - connected through 10k resistor to pin 2 of DB9 for normal operation. Disconnected for headphones use.
4 - GND
5 - Potentiometer cursor
6 - audio signal to headphones connector (L)
7 - 20 Vcc from power supply
8 - FR speaker +
9 - FR speaker -

The potentiometer resistor is connected to GND through a 1.2K resistor and to Vcc through 560 ohms resistor. The cursor goes to pin 5 of DB9.

Potentiometer value is 50K

An approximate schematic is attached.
I know this thread is really old by now, but as a noob to this kinda stuff, how would I simply turn on the subwoofer to work? I messed around with some resistors and a breadboard using that circuit diagram and the only thing I attained was a headache :) any help would be very much appreciated!

No, it doesn't. The link given by @Delta Prime points to post-1847304 whereas this thread is post-1847943.
I'm sorry for the miswording, but any [#] at the end of the url simply scrolls the page to a specific header (in this case post). It is the same page in essence and I have looked extensively throughout all of the posts already, and even on other forums to no avail. That is why I stated previously that it is not a helpful reply. I would appreciate info from some1 maybe like @avramar64 who actually reverse engineered the speaker and would know what pins to short. Thanks

Understood! This is all my doing. My sincere apology Sir.
@Harald Kapp was just trying to help you and me.

What is the pinout of the DB9 connector on the subwoofer? I'm hoping I can switch the power by shorting 2 of the pins and control the volume with

Problem with my woofer speaker started a week ago. Speakers turn on but without any sound; power light lits too and there is no sound.I need to repair it . I would appreciate any advice

All right, apologies I'm all mixed up! that's what happens when your necromancer. Your supposed to start your own thread & reference this one. But I know you didn't know that... but now this threat is haunted! I'm stuck in a loop. It's groundhog Day all over again!
Sorry...

Hey all! I Have the just the Z506 Sub and I wanted to use it standalone as well. Im giving it a sub input via the R and L on Stereo on the back for the audio input.

My issue like others is I dont know what pins to jump on the DB9 port to just power the sub. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Not to necro an old thread, but pinout with the wire colors lists pin 8 as speaker ground and pin 9 as speaker positive, and then the other pinout without the wire colors lists pin 8 as speaker positive and pin 9 as speaker ground. Also in the pinout with the wire color listings, it lists the "black" wire (which is just the uninsulated copper shield) tying to the speaker positive, which makes no sense from an electrical standpoint, as the shield is connected connected to ground.

Nice score for $5! Test with a multimeter first, If it refuses to power on, the control pod might be required (thanks, Logitech ). Check eBay for a cheap replacement pod.

Sharing my experience: I don't know if my pod broke or if the motherboard circuit for the pod broke.

What I did with mine is connect the Power supply voltage, 18v in my case, directly to the input of the voltage regulator, 78L12, since it wasnt powered and the other audio components werent receiving power. (Basically bypassing the transistor that seems to be one that should supply it, I couldn't figure out how that circuit worked)
Seems like each input passess through an opamp then the volume ic.

I then wired the supply voltage into the two amplifier ICs' Standby Control pin, pin 7 refer to datasheet. (STA540)
The right amp ic (looking at the Non-trace side of the board), is the one that handles the subwoofer and center, the left is the 4 other speakers. (I also couldn't figure out the control circuitry)

The volume pot is connected to the volume ic, PT2325, read previous replies here about connecting a pot.

Mine is connected right now and works on RCA, didn't test the other inputs but I think it should work.
The pod power button does nothing, led doesnt turn on, and headphone doesnt work but slowly turns off speakers.
I also don't know if bypassing all those stuff is safe.
Ofc do it on your own risk, my thought process was just noticed the ICs werent turned on, turn them on. Hope this somehow helps.

i know your reply is kind of old but would you mind kind of send a image about your connection when comes in bypass in the main amp board, i have a broken controller board of the Z506 and yea it doesn't work anymore but the amp system is working fine is just the controller is busted, the problem is i don't know how to fix it, if i can just see the connection, i might fix it on my own, if would you mind send me the picture of your connection of bypass, that would be very helpful, thanks in advance.
