Hello, need some help with this one please. I have made a boo boo. I have purchased a PWM speed controller from Amazon. Links and pictures below. The speed controller had a 5 pin pot and I bought a different pot that was spring loaded to self return to zero but unfortunately I didn't read the old one correctly and the original one was 100k and the one I got was 10k. Naw the control board won't slow down and runs at full speed constantly with or without a pot installed. So my question is this what parts do I have to replace on the control board to get it operational and to function with a 10k pot.

Impossible to say without a schematic diagram of the board.

Your best alternative: get a 100 k potentiometer.

Unfortunately not possible. The potentiometer i purchased is made by one company and only has a 50° sweep so can be used as a throttle. From what I understand so far, it has a 555 timer that is discharge through the pots into a capacity that controls the duty cycle so I think I have probably fried my timer.

Unlikely. You could try connecting a resistor (e.g. something in the range 33k-100k) in series with the 10k pot (or instead of it) and see if that gives some speed reduction?

Something has definitely died on the control board as I have installed the original 100k pot and I have no control. Just runs flat out.
Once I figure out what's died on the control board with the resistor, I take it it goes on the center pin for the wiper?

That would be best. But if the 100k pot does nothing then the added resistor might not work. Worth a try though.

What does the old pot read from either end to rotor ?
It now could have opened up from the hi speed end . . . . . Thus no control.
I would be solder tacking on 47 k resistors on each end of that pot and then re tacking on the lifted wires to have 47 k added on each end.
Then test to see if all is working again and being at mid speed . . . . .but adjustable within that lower value pots limited range.
