The Electrocompaniet EMC 1UP CD player is not recognizing discs.

When no disc is present, the motor spins, laser light activate, and the laser lens moves up and down. However, with a disc inserted, it only makes a slight micro-movement of the disc without full rotation. It's possible that the player attempts to focus on the disc but fails, preventing further spinning.
I've verified that the lens is clean and the motor spins freely when turned by hand.

Research indicates that this model uses a Philips CD Pro 2 mechanism. Are there any troubleshooting steps I should attempt before considering a mechanism replacement?

Any help will be appreciated

Hello,

Is the disk being pressed against the motor?
When the top disk is not pressed enough, the cd will slip.

Hi, the CD disc is secured with magnetic disk, like this:

Welcome to Maker Pro.tenor.gif
Electrocompaniet has developed a proprietary mechanical filters that removes internal and external vibration components from entering the laser pick-up assembly.
You are going to need a service manual because there are four separate power supplies using what they call Floating Transformer Technology (FTT) & are feeding the digital unit, the display, the drive mechanism and the analogue unit.
I would look up these power supply values & check to see if they are present on the board, you're going to need a schematic.

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I couldn't find service manuals for this model. No info for lens and motor disassembly as well.

Hi, the CD disc is secured with magnetic disk, like this:
But does it turn? Even with that magnetic disc on top the CD may slip if the "turntable" is slippery, the part I marked red here:

Try cleaning this part and the light ringbetween the rad marks and the center cone with some alcohol and a cotton swab.
