I have 3 older Sangean portable radios that have had the volume control wheel wear out and I am wondering if these parts can be replaced by a novice. Is it a rheostat type wheel control?
One model is the Sangean DV-200. The other is a different silver model but has a similar wheel control.
On all 3, the control has become unresponsive and will just stay loud or faint despite the turning of the wheel. They wore out slowly at first having to turn the wheel all the way to get the volume to go up or down.
To me it sounds like that wheel assembly would need to be replaced. Is that something I could do and is there a place to source these kind of parts?
I can get the other model number and post pics if that would be helpful. Wondering if I can repair these as sending them in somewhere would cost more than replacement and they really are nice little units.
Any input appreciated on whether this is feasible for a novice and if I am thinking about the technical issue correctly.
Much thanks!
