My name is Larry. I haven't much experience on forums. I made a few posts on a couple of DYI forums last year. Actually, just enough to be corrected about proper form and protocol, not so much for the information I sought. I was interrupted in my electronic pursuits by some pressing health issues but now once again have the time to delve into some. I am mostly interested in audio pursuits and my biggest interest lies with vacuum tube technology, although I am also interested in analog and digital processing projects. I am self taught which means that I don't know a Hell of a lot f anything in my case. I am trying to learn though and am determined to become as proficient in assembly as I once was. Years ago, I qualified right off of the street so to speak, to work as an assembler of avionics electronics equipment. I had zero experience in the assembly field but had done some hobby work. The company I went to work for hesitantly gave me a chance, although no one had ever passed their quality exam who had no experience in the field. This was back in the day when lead solder was still being used. I built many boards a day with seldom an issue for a couple of years, but lost the job as business went overseas. This company was one of the last U.S. companies working in the field who built equipment for the commercial and personal aircraft industry. I am now trying to start a hobby, learn new skills and pick up all I can from younger and more experienced craftsmen and women than I am.
