When I joined it was Electronics Point. Then it became Maker Pro, which was supposed to be an improvement but I just found it more confusing. Now it is Electronics-lab, which seems to be more like what I originally joined.
Please forgive a somewhat infrequent participant (although most of the Showcase/Project Logs for the last few years seem to be mine) but what is the story on these changes?

Hello,

As far as I know, there has been a merge between maker.pro and electronics-lab.com
The idea was to get more trafic on the forum
You will see some threads that where original from electronics-lab.com

Yes, electronics lab merged with MakerPro last year. The name MakerPro does not exist anymore. It also took me some time to understand what happened when I first tried to access MakerPro after the merge. Anyway, admins and members are still the same. So, you can post questions without any hesitation.

It is the sign of the times now. people using AI and passing it off as their own academic knowledge and or experience in the field; although the intention is admirable to help others. They also spread misinformation across various scientific disciplines not only here on this site, but others as well.

A while ago we had what we were sure were 2 AIs talking to each other on one of the bike forums. As soon as a mod asked them something that would demonstrate whether they were real or not both "users" disappeared.

They call meaningless (or misinformative) AI generated content "AI slop" and some studies quoted by Google's own shop generator indicate that over half of all new web content is slop.

What a wonderful world we live in.......

I have been using this forum for a long time, and in my previous answer, I only shared what I saw. I have noticed the merge long ago. If I unintentionally said something offensive, I apologise.

You have been a member for just under a year and you have only made 75 posts so I wouldn't exactly say that's a long time.
What you said was not offensive, it just sounded generic enough to make my moderator senses tingle a bit. As I said, I moderate on a couple of motorcycle forums and we've seen "users" join and make the occasional fairly generic post to get their post count up to the point where they are allowed to start private conversations so that they can offer to sell parts that they don't really have. I imagine that is more common on motorcycle forums but I'm sure it happens everywhere.
Anyway, I sincerely hope that I was completely wrong about your post and you are a genuine, actual human. Maybe after I get finished with rebuilding half of my house so that I can spend more time on the forum and get back to electronic projects we can find things we are both interested in to talk about.
