If you have a computer power supply lying around that has 12V pos and neg supplies you could use that to test with.
Otherwise search for something like: 12V PSU with pos and neg rails
Need to replace the abovementioned but battling to find exact match.

Opened my laptops battery. All batteries read about 4.08V apart from Batteries 3-4 and 11-12 which read 1.48V and which I want to replace.This battery pack now unobtainium from manufacturer. So 6 batteries for 11.1V 5200mAh and 56 Wh. How do I figure out what maH these individual batteries are...
I am sitting with the same situation with a fanlight that I've changed to led. With incandescents it worked perfectly via the remote but with leds the glow remains. I will be forced to install a wall switch upstream to totally switch it on and off. Bummer

I am still not the guy with enough knowledge to help you. All I can add is lift one leg of diode and retest. I have found diode showing faulty in circuit and then measures OK when removed from circuit
