Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

The main reason was that the cable runs through a very narrow hole in a thick wall. It would be very hard to open the hole because of the surrounding carpentary and pipework. The current hole just about allows the cable through without the rj-45. There was also a matter of pride. I thought I...

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

Thank you for the link to the ethernet configuration article on Ubuntu. When the ISP engineer visited me, he came with test equipment and without using my computer he found the following: My self made Cat 6 cables were not giving anything like the same speed as the router was supplying (not...

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

The LAN RJ45 socket on the computer can go to 1Gps. As for driver settings I am not aware of restrictions (Ubuntu 22.04) I do not know if another type of cable will give more speed. It did on the commercially made cables. It should give the router output speed which has been confirmed at...

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

The cable is not screened. I have checked a wire and it is silver inside but copper looking outside. Is there a requirement for cat 6 to be pure copper? My ISP supplies fiber to the router. It is at the speed high I mentioned above and it has been checked as such.

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

In my last post I put all the speeds the wrong way round.

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

I have removed the rj-45's on the cable between the router and the computer, and replaced the RJ45's with new ones. I have confirmed the 8 wires have continuity and that there is no mismatch on the cable connections. I have just done a speed test at the computer and I am getting 94 ul /57 dl...

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

Thank you all for your helpful comments. The cable length is less than the working max quoted above. I did not realise that there could be such a large data speed loss due to the matching wires not being close for two of the colours. Why I moved the white orange around: There were 8 wires...

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable data restriction?

I made up two ethernet cat 6 cables for internet access. On my internet service provider's plan the d/L speed should be at 300mbs. Both my ethernet cables are showing a through put of 94 d/l from the router to the other end of the cable. The network provider has checked the router. It is able...

    Heated jacket temperature regulator

Thank you for your kind help. I calculate that there is a 1.7A draw. ie (8.5w/5v) . I had a look at the same wpm on AliExpress. This is the comment that now concerns me, because I do not understand why the continuous current appears to be limited to .5A "This is a speed governor with a maximum...

    Heated jacket temperature regulator

I feel this rider is unneccesary, because I am more or less certain of the connections, but I might as well double check: As the heating elements only take 8.5 watts 5v, I propose: connect the + - battery power to the wpm power connections. connect the + - Heater wires to the motor...

    Heated jacket temperature regulator

Thank you for your response. The reason I asked for advice is because it is claimed to be for an electric motor, which to me means that it expects a high initial draw, usually satisfied by a capacitor. I wondered if that would rule out that WPM for controlling the heat flow to the jacket...

    Heated jacket temperature regulator

The heat source comes from the 5v 2.1 A (total) output from a battery pack. The heating elements are 5v 8.5 watts. The controller has broken and is long gone. I am wondering how to replace the old controller. Would this wpm be suitable, if not what do you recommend...

    Power line adapters

They are on the same circuit breaker, and plugged directly into the sockets. Is there any particular reason why they should not go into power strips?
