    4017 IC

What I meant by "out of the box" has nothing to do with being superior or arrogant. I was referring to "out of the box" as being different and unique ( NOT ordinary) I like things a bit different , like making lighted ash trays... OR making a teeter totter for a couple lighted snowmen...

    4017 IC

There is NO intent to do anything abusive, immoral, or illegal. I have wanted to finish this "project" for over a year. Finances have been a bit strained and I'm just asking for more specific info on parts/components needed. I have a schematic on the original plan, and am trying to confirm the...

    4017 IC

Am familiar with the "dimpled" LED's and the broadcast light. Have found them (4.5 v DC) at places like Michael's and Hobby Lobby - powered by 3 AA batteries. Also know that 12v. LED's (Christmas & regular) can be found at many truck stops. The "inverted cone" can also be made with a Dremel...

    4017 IC

Hobby project = I have a sequence blinker in mind and have the 555 IC, and need to get a 4017 controller, Also wanted are 12v "micro-lights" to power the project or LED's that broadcast light instead of 'narrow beam'. Since Radio Shack is no more, where can I get such lights ? Will need a dozen...

I'm looking for 12v. LED's in red and yellow that cast light like a regular bulb.

I'm wanting to use a series of them in a project started. The areas are small and about 3/8" deep, and irregular in shape. The shapes are 1/4" to 1/2" wide and from 1 1/2" to 3"long. The LED's are to be centered and I would like each 'area' to light up with an LED. I do not want to use small...

I'm looking for 12v. LED's in red and yellow that cast light like a regular bulb.

I'm making a "project" and I want to find LED's that cast light like a regular bulb, and not just a 'spot'. I've tried to use my Dremel to "dimple" the top of LED's and that works, but I want to light an AREA. I used to be a regular Radio Shack customer, but they're gone. Any help appreciated.

Boxes. Cases. I need simple coverings for my projects! What do you use?

Small boxes might be made out of plastic soap "boxes" used to keep bar soap in your suit case when travelling. You can also make them "custom" out of styrene plastic sheets purchased at a local hobby store. A bit of silicone where the electrical leads go thru will stop the 'wet', and maybe a...

    LED supplier ?

Since Radio Shack closed, I'm looking for an LED supplier. I use low power LED's for 3volt hobbies, and occasionally 12 volt projects. Also have a supply of various resistors to 'adapt' amperage. Would like a local supply (Kingsport, TN) , but mail order will do.

    Bicycle gadget

There are several components available on the market that do what you want, but to build the 'system" I might suggest an LED flashlight and a small LED taillight from a car. The 'gyro' will need a small motor to keep it spinning and a "trigger" to switch the buzzer when it moves off the preset axis.

    DC Curent and Voltage regulation.

Years ago, I saw a "Power Pump" in a CB magazine and the plans to make one. It was a 'plug-in' that converted 110 VAC to 12-13 VDC with a rock solid output. There was an option to see just how many amps was being used when the CB was being used. The specific voltage could be controlled by a...

    'Chasing' LEDs

NOT sure about the solutions suggested. I have no problem with them, but might suggest getting the "sequencer" from a junk yard - off of another car with the sequencing lights. May be a bit easier and work like it should.

    Drill bits for homemade PCBs?

The "setup" I would use, is my Dremel rotary tool and the drill press made for it. Very slight pressure. Bits I use are purchased at a hobby/craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael's. The Dremel is the "power tool" that I use most often. There are other "attachments" for it, like the router, and...

Adding LED lights to Kid Battery powerd Ride-on

Tractor Supply, and others, have LED "utility lights" that are good for farm equipment. ANY auto supply may have the LED lights that get used as clearance lights on trucks and trailers, and they have the "utility lights" truckers use behind the cab so they can see for hooking up the trailer at...

LEDs on cars license plate frame

An inline resistor should work. Might take a bit to find the "right one" that works best for what you want.

Heating elements for own built terranium

Possible solution = 110v "heat-tape" used to keep water pipes from freezing during the winter. Sold in most Hardware stores. Can be "woven" around on the bottom ( like an electric blanket) of the terranium below the soil/sand. OR go to a commercial greenhouse ( supplier) to find out what they use.
