When lithium‑ion batteries are deeply discharged, even down to 0 V, many charging solutions have an under‑voltage startup threshold. A battery over‑discharged to 0 V can no longer be recharged with those solutions.

However, the NFC‑WLC protocol supports trickle pre‑charging. Even when the battery voltage is below the system startup threshold, the harvested RF energy can supply a tiny current to safely recover the battery.

Important note: Pre‑charging parameters must be strictly tuned to prevent battery damage.

I think the battery chemistry would be damaged if depleted below a certain threshold.
Reviving a fully depleted/discharged cell may work for a limited time but the damage is done.

My apologies for the earlier misstatement. The battery is not at 0 V. The receiver enters a "0 V" output‑protection state when depleted, while the circuit maintains proper battery protection. The NFC‑WLC can still power up the receiver, re‑activate the battery and start charging.
