I'd be grateful of anyone can help me with the wiring on this lovely vintage meter.
It's just been cleaned and rebuilt as old batteries had been left in.
My dilemma is that two wires have come detached and I can't see where to reconnect them.

One is red and still connected to the rotary switch but the other end is detached. I suspect it connects to one of the points on the meter movement. See image.
The second has clear insulation and is about 15cm long and has become totally detached.

If anyone can point me to where these connect I'd be most grateful. There is still great value in this equipment.

Thanks in advance,
Simon

Thanks for your reply Danadak.
It's an 80M. I can include an image of it if that would help further identification.

Hello,

A picture of the front and back would help.
Also a sharp complete picture of the inners would help.

You can see where possibly red wire to middle jack.

You could try this out and try a 1.5 V battery measurement to see if it makes sense, the reading.....

Cant identify where the frayed end of red wire broke off ? Its only so long and so can only reach
a certain number of connections. And using a magnifying glass look at jacks, solder end, for frayed
remnants of wire that may have broken off.....

I’d be careful about reconnecting either wire based only on its color, especially with an older meter. If you have a schematic or can find another photo of the same Mura 80M, that would be the safest way to identify the connection points. You could also trace where each wire originally runs and check the solder joints or terminals for any remaining marks. I’d avoid powering it up until you’re reasonably sure the wiring is correct, since a wrong connection could damage the meter movement.
