    Hunter Ceiling Fan Receiver

Kellys_eye, thanks for the reply. The item you are saying is a DIAC is in the photos. The number on it I am not finding when I search for a datasheet. This is what is on the component: EIC9D 224D5. Closest I can come is a 24D5, but that doesn't look the same. Is it a DIAC?

    Hunter Ceiling Fan Receiver

Hi all. I have tried long enough, and now am reaching out to the experts. I have a Hunter Ceiling Fan with a remote control that controls the fan speeds (3) and the lights. The lights are incandescent and dimmable, 60 watt candelabra style bulbs. There are two of them in the fixture...

    Fried speaker component - replaceable?

I'm glad you are willing to try. It may not solve the problem, but then again, it may. If you don't try, you will never know. At this point, it would become a challenge, if it was mine, especially with as few components as are on that entire board. And as far as my "expertise," the others...

    Fried speaker component - replaceable?

Don't give up yet. That plate is a heat sink and that white material you see is a heat sink compound designed to transfer heat away from the components to that plate. The components may or may not have been damaged, but getting a look at them is going to require removing that shield/plate to...

    Fried speaker component - replaceable?

Capacitors are cheap. I only see two electrolytic style capacitors on that board. Find the same values and replace both of them. There is no guarantee it will fix the problem, since the excess voltage that caused the problem may have done damage to another component(s), but "binning it" won't...

    Fried speaker component - replaceable?

Hard to tell from your pictures, but that capacitor at C8 in your third photo looks like it may have been damaged by the excess voltage. It would make a hissing sound, smoke, and the smell you have described. Do you know how to check it?

Heat causing automotive LCD display to dim. Can't find a solution.

Isolate and insulate that chip from the entire board with wires and see if the issue remains. The IC is likely heating up the board beneath that chip. If the chip isn't still touching the board there, the problem may be solved.

    Fixing an USB charger

There are two most common temperature ratings for these caps. 85C and 105C. Both of them are easily sourced. I always go with the higher temperature when replacing components, since the cost difference is usually minimal. For a USB Charger, however, I wouldn't think it would matter much...

    Fixing an USB charger

I have repaired several USB Power Supplies of different types. One of the most common failures is that smaller 10uF/50Volt Capacitor on the board next to the transformer. If the Inductor has continuity, it is probably good. Replace that 10uF Cap and see what happens. Let us know please.

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

OK. So I put power to the L2750 out of a circuit. I'm sure it will not tell me much doing it this way, and I think the experts here have mentioned that before, in other posts, that it needs to be placed in a proper circuit for testing ( I know this anyway), but here is what I come up with: Pin...

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

When checking the pins, with the code numbering facing me and the component upright, the far left pin is number one. The next one over is 2, until the last one on the far right is number 11. So yes, top to bottom alternating 1 thru 11. I will try and breadboard the new components I have...

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

I was hoping you would have success with that cap, but oh well. So I had already done a voltage check on the power chip using a working radio. I made my notes based on the PCB being upright, with the other side (component, non soldered side) of the board facing up, so you will have to take my...

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

OK Bellarmine. I finally got around to pulling the caps off of a few boards. The CDM model I have that is closest to yours is a 16147075. I also checked a 7070 and a 9561, and all of them are showing right around 104nF (.104uF). As far as the older CDM, you are experiencing the common...

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

Hi Bellarmine. I will have to look over what I have here and see if I have a similar model like yours. No need to unsolder those tabs on the older one. I know what is behind it. I am currently working on one similar. There are actually two PCB's sandwiched together in that one. That model...

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

What I ended up doing was getting several more CDM's and I was able to get a few of them to work. I still have four of them that I have repaired that are just sitting here now. I suspected my power supply component/chip had lost the supply that runs the led inputs to the head unit and I was...

    Comparable Component

Thanks for the reply. The four "similar" devices are the output components for the four speaker outputs and are a completely different number than what I am looking for. A picture is attached. Those components are easily found as they are the same as a TDA7360 Power Amplifier. I have traced...

    Comparable Component

Hi again, all. I am trying to source a component I am having a hard time finding the exact numbers/letters on the available replacements. I think I may have found what I believe is the closest one. Can someone take a look at the information I have provided and let me know if I'm close please...
