    Preparing for the corporate world

Hi MP, Whats the best time do this? Should I wait to finish my junior year first so I gain some more background in theory?

    Cant rename folders

Thanks for the unlocker tool Kasamiko. But sad to say that it does not work, yes the rename feature of it does not work on my desktop. An error pops up saying "Cannot rename file: Cannot read from source file or disk". Logan, the reason for  it being renamed is becuase these are all file names...

    Cant rename folders

Thats a neat little trick Ante. But it does not work on my desktop (from win explorer). It works for other folders and files that are not located on my desktop though. I know that it is trying to rename because I hear a beep that usually sounds when a user tries to do something that windows wont...

    Cant rename folders

Hi rigdoctor99  ;D I guess I forgot to mention that there is no rename option in the properties of the folder. In the attributes section of the folder, read-only seems to be automatically selected everytime I make a new folder. Unchecking it and applying the changes does nothing.

    Sound Level Indicator

Hi audioguru, I'm just curious, why did you  use the LM3915 instead of the LM3914. I would like to know what requirements you based this on.

    Preparing for the corporate world

Thanks for the input logan. I'm currently trying to make the transition from whatever theory I know to practical applications. But unfortunately its not going as smooth as I thought it would. Mayb I just need to work on a few more projects. I plan on doing this extensively during the summer...

    Preparing for the corporate world

I will be graduating in 2 yrs with a bachelors degree in computer engineering. I want to know whats the best way to prepare for the "real world". What should I start doing from now to best prepare myself for post-college jobs. I want to avoid receiving a blow in the face. Any advice would be...

    Power Supply Project needed

The LM3914 looks very neat. According to this website they say that it has a LM317 voltage regulator built in. Is it a good idea to use this IC for both regualtion and voltage display?

    Power Supply Project needed

I plan on using comparators instead to indicate voltage levels. For now I experiment with 3 different voltages - 5V, 12V, and 25V. I plan on using the LM741 general purpose operational amplifer. I have a problem with this circuit though: V1 is used to represent the reference voltage (connected...

    Power Supply Project needed

Since I cant use a digital voltage indicator mayb I can opt for a bunch of LEDs to indicate the voltage. Mayb one likethis would do?

    Power Supply Project needed

The reason I was getting around 21Vdc-22Vdc on the output when using 24Vac is beacuse the source I was using was already in peak voltage and not RMS  ;D

    Power Supply Project needed

Now lets say I wanted to make a digital voltage indicator to tell me my output voltage from the power supply and I wanted to power the indicator from my power supply. If it uses 5V would it be safe to setup some sort of voltage divider across the .1uF capacitor? The digital volt meter here has...

    Power Supply Project needed

So you recommend that I use a 120 ohm(for LM317) instead of the 240ohm? And with that I must change the pot to a 2.5k right? Why wouldnt the 5k pot suffice with the resistor change? Also on multisim, using a 24Vac, I get an output of about 21Vdc and not 32Vdc.  ???

    Power Supply Project needed

I know that the 4k7 is a 5K-Ohm Linear Potentiometer from radio shack (part number 271-1714 as seen on http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/rs.htm ) Berfore I build my projects I always simulate using multisim or spice. Well on multisim I determined that a 5k pot only gives a max output...
