    Computer speakers power issue

It looks like it had water soluble flux residue remaining on the PCB and then got wet, causing metal salt conductive bridges. You may need something more aggressive to clean that off. I usually use (because I happen to have some) brasso metal polish and a toothbrush. It's the mild abrasive...

    Electro plating power supply

I vaguely recall that in a bath setup you can adjust the current by how much surface area the anode has in contact with the solution, usually adjusted by how far it is immersed into it.

Noisy CPU fan - reduce its RPM

Keep in mind that just because its primary purpose is cooling the CPU, it is possible to have a mismatched load on something else like GPU or IGP where the fan shouldn't be as low as possible to only keep the CPU temp where you want it. I have to wonder if Dell did not just spin the fan faster...

Replacing LCD instrument readout with LED readout.

Yeah if you intend to keep using it as-is, I'd leave it alone, though I haven't had problems taking similar things apart, just a matter of whether there is sufficient alignment tabs to hold the display perfectly so the zebra strip lines back up, but then I wouldn't treasure it if it's not bright...

Replacing LCD instrument readout with LED readout.

... or put the LED in the back, or do as Harald suggested and increase the existing LED driver current, though I'd want to know what it is using now, as a baseline to determine if you can increase it enough to matter or would just burn up the LED (or possibly it was already overdriven for the...

Harbor Freight Centech charger putting out around 150V

^ But on the bright side, once they're electroplated you can use them as Christmas Decorations. :)

Harbor Freight Centech charger putting out around 150V

While not as simple as some, it is a linear transformer based design rather than switching, so it should not be too hard to sketch out a schematic, at least part of it. If you're getting roughly the right voltage off the transformer secondary windings then I'd guess the rectifier diode...

Replacing LCD instrument readout with LED readout.

I'd imagine that *most* of the cheap generics, are closer to accurate than the difference between air temp and road temp. Then again if the interest is accuracy at 0, seems like you could use some pull up/down resistors to accomplish that if there isn't a pot in it to adjust. Having never done...

You can get an LED temperature module on ebay for about $5 delivered.

White smoke - Replacing high voltage rectifier caps in PC power source

There is some info lacking to know for certain what has happened, but I'll speculate and throw this out there anyway! ;) The problem was not the cap voltage rating. That would just short out the cap. What second stage mosfets? If you don't have a schematic, pics might help. I wonder if...

Which proximity sensor can be implemented from inside of a metal body or casing?

It's a shame we don't have a way to make holes in metal yet, but I have hope for future generations.

    Car Key Transponder

I don't think it is in the best interest of car owners to help. You have no need to do this.

Solar charging 2400 mAh batteries - Part 2

If it has a plastic lens you can try polishing it with plastic polish and put a coat of wax on to slow down degradation, but probably not a lot of work is worth bothering with because this type of light can often be bought for under $3 (at least in the US). Yes you could swap in a better solar...

    Car Key Transponder

I can't tell you if your circuit is right, but i can tell you that when the key transponder is powered by the magnetic field, it transmits a code that a computer verifies as valid then allows the ignition coil or other necessary vehicle components to function. All you have there is possibly a...

    Solar charging 2400 mAh batteries

There will always be a sociopolitical issue of how much to limit the whole due to the few who cause problems, or how much our freedom should be restricted for our own good and safety. There are no easy answers. We can't imprison everyone for minor offenses, but fines typically aren't on a...

Charging a battery from well pump circuit (cycles on/off 120v)

^ Typically someone posting a topic here, gets things sorted out one way or the other within the next month or two tops, so whatever info we post now, odds are the OP has moved on already with this topic now over a year old.

    Solar charging 2400 mAh batteries

^ Of course, https://www.amazon.com/s?k=NiCd+battery I don't consider the toxicity much of an issue if you recycle them. There are tons of places that recycle for free in the US, from hardware stores to office supply chains, even the local public library here does. *Some* of these don't take...

    Solar charging 2400 mAh batteries

^ Yes I made some assumptions that could be in error. 1) I assumed the new 2400mAh battery swapped in was the same size, a simple swap into an existing battery compartment with springs/tabs instead of soldered or a pigtail connector. 2) The only thing as low as 600mAh that also comes in...

    Solar charging 2400 mAh batteries

It doesn't necessarily matter if the solar panel can charge the battery fully in a day. It's still better to have more capacity and might even keep the battery from overcharging, depending on the size of the solar panel. "Probably" not, the solar panel is probably small and cost economized...
