Which speakers are best for home?

It depends on what you want to spend and how good your hearing is, of course. If you live in the UK, I would recommend you go to one of your local Richer Sounds shops https://www.richersounds.com/ I like the fact that they are part owned by their employees. More firms should be like that...

    Best op-amp for audio use?

Cheers everybody. Just what I wanted to know. I finished working with electronic design way back in 1978, when I went on to do other things. Now well into my dotage and being funded by my (albeit small! Weep for me. Lol!) retirement pension, I have several projects to follow up. I feel a bit out...

    Best op-amp for audio use?

Hi What do people consider to be a good op-amp for use in a HiFi preamp design? Cheers

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

There is a scene in the Queen movie where Queen are shown swinging a speaker about suspended from the ceiling to get some sort of phasing Leslie speaker effect. I'm not sure exactly where on the digital / analogue music sound effects debate I stand, but I must admit I was impressed by John...

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

I made a reverb spring unit that worked quite well as a guitar effect. Two telephone earphones. I soldered hooks onto the metal diaphragms and attached a 30cm or so spring between them. I never finished it properly and I never used it in performance because it kept falling apart. The sound...

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

I certainly do. I was going to design and make an echo chamber (I bet we all were!) but never got around to it. I wonder if it was one of these that was used as the delay element in the flow measuring device in my original post?

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

Starting to reminisce now. My first job in 1970 after finishing my training was involved with the design of a sonar system for the Royal Navy. I was designing power supplies and amplifiers etc. Working along side me was a very clever kid who was designing a system using cross correlation (the...

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

On the matter of using pressure difference to measure flow, I remember back in the 70's having to set up a system to feed nutrients to a biostat growing bacteria for somebody's research project. I scratched my head not knowing where to start, to calculate what size pump and tubing I needed to...

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

Thanks Nanren. Still in the process of getting my head around it all.

Cheers Harald. I will take time to absorb this.

Analogue correlation circuit to measure water flow in a pipe?

I think about 45 years ago I attended an Open University Summer School where one of the lecturers had made a circuit that measured the flow of water through a pipe. It did this by placing two microphones about a metre apart on a water pipe and then used some form of analogue circuitry to "cross...

Old magazine series 99 IC projects

No, I just didn't realise that I was supposed to do as I was asked to! You get wallys like me everywhere! Lol! Took me a while to figure this out. Mind you it enabled me to walk straight into a job after my apprenticeship.

synchonizing speeds of two dc motors.

One mechanical solution that springs to mind and may or may not be applicable is what a toy in the late 80's used. The toy was called Big Track. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zeon-Limited-BIGTRAK-Bigtrak/dp/B0035IZ85G It was a computer controlled car that you could program to follow a given route...

synchonizing speeds of two dc motors.

I'm still not sure of exactly what you want, Sahil, but one way to measure speed of a motor is to use an opto slot and a slotted disk mounted on the motor shaft. https://learnabout-electronics.org/Semiconductors/opto_54.php This to my mind would be the cheapest way of measuring motor speed. But...

Old magazine series 99 IC projects

Love these 99 cct books and others like them. When I was an apprentice and we were being taught valves (It was the 60s!) I got hold of a Practical Wireless, cct pocket booklet. I spent a lot of my time knocking up the transistor ccts and learning from them. Didn't get very good marks from my...

    Inductance of motor

I am probably over thinking this. If your problem is a works problem, just spend their money and get yourself a simple LCR meter and play with it. At least your boss will see you doing something. If it is a home problem, do the same. LCR meters are very useful in experimenting and learning.

    Inductance of motor

Ignoring the effect of the iron core, yes, inductance is independent of frequency for a perfect inductor. And the meter will measure inductance not impedance, although the LCR40 or similar will also tell you the DC resistance of the coil. so, VL = L dI/dt Where VL is the pd across the inductor...

    Inductance of motor

Certainly resistance will be Rline / 2 if you measure it across two phases. But I'm still thinking about Lline.
