Lol! Just re-read my post. Of course your bosses may be happy for YOU to take the risk. I suppose it may be different if they have to take the risk!

Questions silicone gel in plastic and rubber, good ou bad?

I used silicon bathroom sealer to try and seal the rim of my wheel barrow tubeless tyre so that I could inflate it. It worked but the sealant has clearly reacted with the synthetic rubber of the tyre and has turned from white to a really manky looking brown. It has been ok for a couple of years...

    Micky taking ebay sales?

I wonder how many people here have actually used a 709. I did my apprenticeship at RRE Malvern back in the 60's and I was given some 709 , 702 and others to play with. At the end of my apprenticeship I had not been paying much attention to my classwork or doing what I was supposed to be doing...

How to redraw if a drawing have legal limitations ?

Just opinionating here. I would hope that the company would use common sense and allow you to redraw their documents if you needed them for using their equipment. I would hope that they would only get twitchy if you passed off their work as yours. Me personally, I would use any diagrams and...

    Micky taking ebay sales?

I've just had a bit of a shock at seeing a 709 op amp from the 1960's on offer for £18.99. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252731626657 Surely this is a p**s take and someone just chancing their arm? Does anybody here think it will sell? I also came across clearly very old CV7049 / OA10 germanium...

Adventures with Electronics - Tom Duncan ISBN 0 7195 3566 2 published 1978 Tom Duncan is a very well known writer of school science and technology books in the UK, through the 70's 80's and 90's and I think this book is an excellent example of his work. The book is intended as a self guided...

52 Projects using IC741 BP24, Rudi &Uwe Redmer, Babani press, I find it amazing that the 741 op is still being sold and used, having been designed and built 52 years ago. -- I have just had to pause to catch my breath! There are a number of books like 52 Projects, but I think this very cheap...

Just another vote for the Horowitz Hill Art of Electronics. However, my grateful thanks have to go to the authors of the many application notes written by Texas, Ferranti, Mullard, Siemans and others, way back in the 60's who first published all the standard circuits we happily use nowadays. I...

    Radio Silence

Or work with it on your lap! Seen that done! Kittysoman2013, Are you able to drill out the heads of the screws? A bench drill is useful in such circumstances if you can fit the radio under it. Sorry to hear about your father. You have reminded me of my great hording and the amount of work my...

240 V water heater ground and neutral

As Tha fios says! Consult a qualified electrician. But I am curious. What country are you in? I am only qualified and have worked on UK mains electric and I note your unusual terminology. "Hot" -- ? You probably mean "Line". Wire gauge in awg ? Here in the UK and Europe we specify wire size in...

    Simple SW receiver on 3V?

Well, you asked for advice and one piece of advice was an alkaline PP3 would give you plenty of life with a small radio. It may not have been the advice you wanted but there it is. Also don't forget this is a forum and a lot of people will come across your question (which is a good question...

    Simple SW receiver on 3V?

I agree with you aurelZ. You are absolutely right. Building is a lot of the fun of it, but I think some here want to know more so that they can get involved and offer as much help as possible. I think the main bit of advice is don't restrict your self to 3V. 9 volts gives you so much more choice...

Frustration over IR transmitter and receiver how do I..?

Not exactly what the OP asked for but if they are simply experimenting an IR or optical audio link can be good fun. I made a system like this many years ago and it worked very well. The only thing I would change in the circuit below is to have the Tx driven by an op amp with the facility to bias...

    Simple SW receiver on 3V?

I don't know if this is your first radio build, but being simple it is more likely to be successful. If you want a more sophisticated design, then 9V supply gives the designer more latitude in their design, so I would ask if it really has to be 3V?
