    Calculating frequency

hey can someone check this please: I'm using an LC tank which has an inductance of 0.00018 uF (6.5 coil turns, length = 6cm, diameter = 0.5mm) and a 1nf cap giving me 375.13 mHz as the frequency. Thanks

    Calculating frequency

Guys, Don't worry about it. I figured it out. It took a while but got the hang of it. Thanks heaps. :)

    Calculating frequency

that's it. i've tried to understand how to calculate the formula you gave and its doing my head in. How do you calculate the capacitor when its in nF or pF? i know how to get the inductance for the coil (L) though. Thanks

    Calculating frequency

    Hi Adam, i have a question: why is 1uF equal to 1x10(-6) while 10nF = 10x10(-9)? Does it go something like this: 1nf = 10 x 10(-1) 1uF = 1 x 10(-6) <------- This is the last one on the chart, so how can it be to the power of -6 (0.0000001)? 1.2nf =...

    Stereo jack help

Sorry, your link is for 6.5mm. i need a 3.5mm RTS stereo male to female jack adapter. Thanks for the link anyway ... The length size of the entire jack is 4.5 cm

    Stereo jack help

Hi, I need help on finding out where i can get these stereo headphone jacks from. I have tried looking online but couldn't find out where to get some. Can anyone recognise where i can get these? i think they have a full diamond back. Thanks

    Making waves into DC

To Bob, the 5.8v i got from my multimeter comes from the tap at the coil. I placed the negative probe on the negative side of the battery and the positive probe on the tap after the coil. The antenna on the left is supposed to be powered up so it can attract waves then be fed into the bridge...

    Making waves into DC

I wasn't sure if negative power is best to power the antenna so i just tried it and got 5.82 V. The positive power seems interesting to try. Also i think the antenna line to the bridge rectifier should be on top. What do you think?

    Making waves into DC

Hi, i'm trying out this experiment where waves are picked up and then turned into DC. I have drawn up a schematic and also tested the circuit. Using a multimeter i got 5.82 V at the tap. However, there might have been some mistake as i did place a -5v voltage regulator and would like someone...

    Calculating frequency

Ah i see. I am just a little confused with the 1 uH for the coil. How do you find out what the value is for it? Also i have been working with this formula to find out the inductance of the coil: L1 = D^2 n^2 --------------- 45D + 100 L2 where: L1 = Coil...

    Calculating frequency

Thanks guys. So from what you told me, it's pretty much 1/2 x pie (3.14) square root L (which is the coil length, diameter and thickness) x C = the resonant frequency Am i on the right path?

    Calculating frequency

Hi, I'd like to know how do i calculate the frequency for a LC tank? I've seen so many different formulas i lost my way and managed to get to Physics some how where the formula is V = C / (inverted Y symbol). I am interested on learning the basic way first as seeing the entire thing seems like...

    Regenerative Circuit

Hi, Needing some help with both these circuits. (See attached) I have applied a 3v lithium ion batt and could not get the ends to work powering a simple green LED. Not sure why. However, when i checked on my laptop oscilloscope i am picking up on electrical signals. Any help given is...

How to move up/down the frequency wavelength

Thank you duke37 for understanding some of what i was saying. However, even though i do agree with you that sound waves are vibrations in the air, they still have a waveform. Why? because it is sound and technically what comes out of your speakers (for e.g. music) has waveforms even though...

How to move up/down the frequency wavelength

Actually it does go faster and slower but not as you think. You see when you move up the wavelength chart you basically are making the wavelength smaller and as you move down the chart you are making the wavelength bigger. Of course each frequency has its own wavelength. However, i did say i...

How to move up/down the frequency wavelength

Ok cool. Going back to your question - No. What you said is correct but it isn't what i was after. Let's say for example a carrier is made from electricity and on that electricity information is placed on it. However, this information travels with the carrier regardless whether it goes fast...

How to move up/down the frequency wavelength

I had looked at it on google but my main goal is to alter the waveform by making it faster or slower and then viewing the change on an oscilloscope. I have the idea but was wondering if placing a battery + Cap + Coil + potentiometer (which comes off as a tap from the coil and sends out a...
