    Capacitor Size Matter?

So should we go for large caps specially in filters. In all ckts i have seen they are generally  the largest components. A huge giant of a small value. It looks as a pole in a small circuit. ;D

    basics of electrical supply

hi alun! i guess it is again a debatable issue .some people 220 V dc as more dangerous than 50Hz 220 V ac because 50 Hz wave gives u 50 chances of survival in just 1 second.....how about that. About akash's point i have ultimately concluded that it is the power i.e energy dissipated into u in 1...

    Capacitor Size Matter?

hi audioguru ! sorry for the interruption but i would say that a surge in the supply would be a more appropriate word than ripple. Although i agree with u that a large cap has higher rating for surges.

    basics of electrical supply

hi aakash! the topic has remained same nd we are now discussing the amount of voltage u need in case there is no direct connection between u and ground.

Anyone Know of any good Math Books?

hi there! There are many other e books on maths. I remember the time during my first year when i used to study maths. we had good fundamentals to clear on topics like linear algebra and matrices  and calculus too.

    basics of electrical supply

Ive heard a few kilo volts is enough to knock u down even without ground.but if grounded gosh.. 60-70V will do the job. Air's ionization potential is a few thousand volts and it can only cause u a shock if air ionizes and circuit is completed. ;D

    LED driving

while the context i was talking about Laser Diodes being used as sourced of power for optical fibers... in communication links. ;D

Anyone Know of any good Math Books?

for basics of differential calculus there is a book by THOMAS and FINNEY and another book by ERWIN KREYSZIG for fundamental concepts in engineering maths.

    MICRO ANTENNAS

hi audioguru! can u tell me in general is it more advantageous to have a high frequency communication system or a low frequency system. Was there any logic behind assigning 88-108MHz as frequency for FM communication or was it just random?

    basics of electrical supply

hi audioguru! i think your son must have touched ground. is it possible for the mid air to ionize at mere 120V and cause breakdown(fee movement of charges!) ? i dont think so.................... ;D

    LED driving

hi audioguru! i guess nowadays we hardly use LEDs with the invent of laser diodes even in optical fibers ;D

    MICRO ANTENNAS

hi audioguru! the only thing i meant by my question was that in general what are the disadvantages of high frequency communications? i.e we use some MHz range for FM and few kHz range for AM radios. any reason for not going in GHz. is noise effecting more at those high frequencies? or something...

    MICRO ANTENNAS

hi audioguru! but consider the fact that height of antenna would be so small at these high frequencies. carry an FM receiver in ur pocket. By the way what is the loss at using microwaves for FM broadcast. only advantages i can see. any disadvantages u can think of?

hi there! clock is nothing but just a multivibrator ckt or an oscilator.. u must have studied transistors

    help with digital clock circuit

suppose u want an alarm at intervals of one hour clk of 1 second will do and counter will increment after 60 sec reset the counter to say count n when comparator and N are same bulb can be made to glow.

    countdown timer help

no the program need not be changes u can use a 74154 or any other of its substitute to act as a 2 to 4 line decoder. u told u already have 2 pic outputs,u can pass these o/ps to 2 to 4 decoder and 4 o/ps will go to 4 digits. as simple as that!!!

I need help for my project ;PIC based Intelligent garden Light Controller

hi there! have u thought of any sensors or transducers which u are going to use for this project?

    MICRO ANTENNAS

hi all! isnt it the case that if we use FM or AM broadcasts at GHz frequencies we would be using an antenna of at the mosr few cms in length. why dont we then go for radio broadcasts at these low frequencies? any problem at high frequency communications?

    bit rate and bandwidth....

hi  shekar! can u be a  bit more elaborate on what datawidth is? how is it one for serial communiacation? what is the significance of shannons theorem like c=bw*log(symbols)? thanks in advance

    10kHz FM modulation

hi there! modulation index and deviation are interchangable. if i/p signal varies between 1 and 2 V,to what extent do we vary the frequency is in our hand. hence in our own hand. ;D
