    Hernia surgery this Tuesday

Good luck with recovery after surgery. As I ponder all the electronics I've repaired over the years, I find I hope I didn't help tank this economy by denying 'big profit' enterprises new item sales due to the fact that I've repaired thousands of broken devices, which prevented the economy sales...

    The 2024 Xmas/holiday card thread

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from small-town Texas, where it's still politically correct to say so. Happy Holidays to everybody else who might be offended by the above. Bah-Humbug to the Scrooges.

Electronics Knowledge and Skill Level of This Forum

John R Retired, You and me are kind of in the same boat, I even spent time on some of your Navy ships. We're in the same age bracket, except I volunteered for the Marines in Vietnam, were nobody asked me what I wanted to do, they just told me what I was going to do. I think that's where we...

    Issues with amplifier

I agree with Bluejets. It'd help if you identified your components and how you hooked them up. From your description, and no other usable information, I would assume you overloaded one of your components and you need to take a look at all of the fuses involved.

Electronics Knowledge and Skill Level of This Forum

I was a tech most of my life. My input is to find-out what you want to do, or work on, find yourself some broken gear of that variety, and see if you can figure-out what makes them tick, and if you can make them work again. As a tech, experience hands-on, is how I learned. Book learning can...

    Thanks Harald Kapp

Logo is too small to take a picture. I need to get, learn how to use a new camera, but even then, I'll probably have to hand-draw the logo and post a picture of my hand-drawing. It's on my to-do list with some other issues I want to post pictures of on this website, when I get my picture-taking...

    Thanks Harald Kapp

Just wanted to say thanks to moderator Harald Kapp. KrisBlueNZ (passed away) created a resource page for 'Logos for Electronic Component Manufacturers' long ago, and Harald added several additional links to Kris' post. I still haven't found the one I'm looking for right now, but those...

    Flash Memory Question

I've got a reel of 50 Each SST 37VF010 90-3C-NH Flash Memory SMDs 28Kx8 90nS, 32V. I assume they were pre-programmed for some system. I believe their electronically erasable for reuse(?) Are they reusable, of any use, or scrap? Don't remember what they were used for.

Vintage Gremar Female BNC Connector Identification?

I didn't forget about this, I'll work on it when I have time. I don't know what good a picture will do, it looks like any other BNC at a glance, but I'll get to it (sometime). I've always hated it when obsolete part information can't be found anymore.

    Foxconn JA23332-810

Yep, that's me on eBay. The 'data sheet' I found was not a downloadable one. I just looked at the limited information I found from somebody else that was utilizing that connector, and absconded with their old information. I'm thinking it's an obsolete connector, but I have a couple trays of...

    Foxconn JA23332-810

This is a very old post, but I found the Foxconn data sheet. I just wanted to provide the information I found in the event somebody else ever needs it. (My 2012 post still showed-up in a Google search) Foxconn JA23332-810 J=Jack, A=Audio Jack, 2=2 Stack, 3=With Bushing, 3=Plug Type 3-Band...

Vintage Gremar Female BNC Connector Identification?

Thanks Harald, I'm pretty good at opening a chassis up and knowing what's going inside the guts. It's the outsides of these electronic contraptions I have trouble with.

Ethics of buying electronic modules from Chinese sites?

To Kellys_eye's question. I think 'Theoretically' is THE problem. Not that I disagree with the concept you hold. From what questionable media coverage I see here in the US, the leaders of Western countries are presently full-bore banding together to create a New World Order of international...

Ethics of buying electronic modules from Chinese sites?

Well, I thought I was addressing TCSC47's query about the ethics of buying from China. Kellys-eye's observations are of course a more complete response, encompassing the damnable 'Capitalist', greedy, business 'ethics' that created the Chicom situation. I also do not blame the ChiComs for using...

Vintage Gremar Female BNC Connector Identification?

I'll see if I can remember how to do the picture posting, and post it here later. My experience with 50 ohm and 75 ohm BNC differences, is the diameter of the center-pin connection. When you plug the larger center-pin into the other smaller BNC socket, you widen the center-socket and create an...

Vintage Gremar Female BNC Connector Identification?

I have a bag full of these. The bag is stamped Gremar 16603, the connector itself is stamped SAI384090. Gremar Woburn, Massachusettes Tried Google, can't even find existence of the company anymore, let alone the connector, assume company was bought by somebody else (Maybe Glenair), that doesn't...

Ethics of buying electronic modules from Chinese sites?

Here's my 2-cents worth (probably an American saying, that means 'take it for what it's worth'). Most everybody seems happy with Chinese Communist electronics, and of course businesses everywhere like to have their products made there due to cheap labor costs. TSCS47 asked about the 'ethics'...

Home Based Income as an Electronics Hobbyist

hevans1944, I still think you didn't forget the code, our 'senior' bodies just don't respond to outside stimuli as quickly now. Since there was a little interest in my post about Morse, he's a story I'll share: The US military in the 60's & 70's trained some of us 'ditty-chashers' to copy code...

Home Based Income as an Electronics Hobbyist

My input is that the money is in repairing high-end stereo gear for audophiles, but if you do that, you'll have to advertise your business so that it comes-up on a web search. The owners want to save their high-end stereo gear at almost any price. Aside from that, I find my number one request...
